Judge detains police over Cabanas shooting
A Mexican judge has ordered three policemen detained while investigators probe the shooting of Paraguay World Cup star Salvador Cabanas, the ministry of public affairs said Sunday.
Cabanas was shot in the head in the toilet of a Mexico City bar last month and is recovering after undergoing emergency surgery.
Closed-circuit images from the bar allegedly show the three policemen escorting the main suspect of the shooting into the building. They were detained for 30 days, a spokesman for the ministry said.
Authorities are looking for the main suspect, identified as Jose Jorge Balderas Garza, nicknamed “El JJ”, and another man known only by the nickname “El Contador.”
