The Macau Cricket Association (MCA) has signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with Omnicon Events Limited (OEL) to start a strategic alliance between MCA and OEL to develop the sport of cricket in Macau.
Omnicon Events will have a local presence and it will provide professional assistance to MCA with its cricket development program.
Omnicon Events is a specialist cricket coaching and event management company and consists of business units such as Cricket Centre of Excellence, Smasher Cricket and Omnicon.
The purpose of the alliance is to bring a full range of cricket related services to the Macau community with the overall objective being to develop the sport of cricket in Macau to an international level.
It is expected that this strategic alliance between MCA and OEL will pave the way for Macau to organise local and international cricket events that will result in the strengthening of the development of the MICE industry in Macau.
MCA’s strategy is to develop the sport of cricket at a grass roots level, beginning in the next school term. MCA will start its cricket development program designed for Macau pupils, especially girl and boy teams of under-11 to under-19 in the next few years.
Former Hong Kong cricket coach, Lal Jayasinghe, will be assisting to run the program with his team of coaches.
