PRC Cup: Competition 2009
A day-long cricket competition will engage four local cricket teams next Sunday, October 4, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of People’s Republic of China.
The first match of the event organized by the Macau Cricket Association (MCA) will start at 10am, at the ground of the International School of Macau, in Taipa.
The final match is expected to take place at 5pm. Every team will play three matches in round-robin format and the two teams with most wins and overall highest run-rate qualifies to play in the final of the “PRC Cup Cricket Competition 2009”.
A PRP Cup’s Junior Cricket Festival will also be held on the same day, between 4 and 4:55pm, and schoolchildren, junior players and audience will be allowed to join the MCA players at the pitch to play cricket.
The Association will also provide complete cricket kits to enthusiasts to wear the cricket gear to take pictures during the junior festival.
In a press release yesterday, the MCA says to be “introducing and promoting this sport in Macau as a healthy sport for people of all ages”, and invites schoolchildren of all ages to join in the Junior Cricket Festival and every cricket event.
In the past, the idea of forming a Cricket team of Cricket enthusiasts was highly appreciated and MCA was able to form an additional team of enthusiasts known as “All Stars” in May, during the recent Cricket festival – it added.
Having in mind the success of that idea, the Association is planning to form again an “All Stars” team, on first come first serve basis, on the day of the event.
Cricket Festival T-shirts will be distributed among all-players in the morning and schoolchildren will get their t-shirts before the start of the Junior Festival in the afternoon.
Award presentations will take place at the end of the final match, and there will be no registration or participation fees.
The organisers just hope for a very good weather.
