The artworks of Vicente Bravo will be showcased, from tomorrow, at the Albergue SCM in a painting exhibition entitled “Encounter” that comprises more than thirty paintings, from acrylic on canvas to ink on paper sketches.
As Vicente Bravo is mainly known by his work as an architect, this exhibition, that includes different periods of the painter, gives the public the opportunity of understanding how Bravo approaches fine arts.
Living in Macau since the 1980s, Vicente Bravo has contributed important works to the local architectural scene, with the pavilion for the 1999 Handover Ceremony and the Handover Gifts Museum of Macau as his most prominent.
“However his artworks are far less well-known, people have at most seen one or two of his works in the plethora of other artists’ works in some joint exhibitions, a sketch, a painting or even an installation work,” Joey Ho, executive director of Albergue SCM said.
Vicente Bravo was born in Luanda in 1946 and has lived in Macau since 1980. His works have been displayed here, as well as in Hong Kong, Singapore, Fukuoka, Portugal and Sweden.
He has contributed paintings and drawings to the Macau Contemporary Artist Exhibition (Hong Kong 1989 and Macau 1990-1992) and was invited to exhibit his work in the Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura, exhibition in Macau and Kuala Lumpur in 1990 and 1994.
In addition, he displayed his work at a 1994 exhibition entitled “Architects Drawings” and at the 1st and 2nd Macau Biennial Art Exhibition.
The exhibition can be visited until January 20.
