Gas leak at China Plaza
A gas leak was reported on the ninth floor of the China Plaza in Nam Van at around 4pm yesterday. The fire bridge was called to the scene to evacuate hundreds of people and the traffic lane on Avenida de D. João IV towards Rua do Campo was closed for about half an hour until 5.30pm. A number of people in the building reportedly felt ill during the incident. Police believed that the leak came from the same unit which is under renovation and had already caused 250 people to evacuate on Tuesday when the nine cans of thinner (a kind of organic solvents) stored inside the unit were found to have the lids not properly closed.
