PokerStars Asia Pacific Macau tour sets new record

The third annual PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau main event set a new record for the richest poker tournament ever held in Asia when 429 players from 46 countries competed for a massive HK 16.1 million prize pool.
Dermot Blain from Dublin, Ireland, who qualified for the APPT Macau main event at the PokerStars Macau Poker Room at the Grand Lisboa, emerged as the victor after six days of play, winning HK 4.1 million, the largest prize ever paid in a poker tournament in Asia.
Blain, a professional poker player who has previously won a few poker tournaments live and online, started playing tournament poker three years ago after visiting a local sporting club in Derry, and his experience helped him recover from being short-stacked at the beginning of the final table.
PokerStars.net sponsored player Mike Kim from South Korea who took second place to win HK 2.9 million and Daoxing ‘Bao Bao’ Chen, who is regularly seen at final tables in the ‘Macau Poker Cup’ tournaments, took third place of HK 1.8 million.
The PokerStars.net APPT Macau Summer Festival of Poker at the Grand Lisboa featured 38 events from August 15 to 30 with nearly 3,000 total entries and an aggregate prize pool of HK 27.8 million.

The next stop of the PokerStars.net APPT will be in Auckland, New Zealand from October 14 to 18.
