Civil Servants’ Association to miss 1st May demonstration
Macau Civil Servants’ Association (ATFPM) is once more not going to participate in the 1st of May demonstration. “There has been a hike of salaries but, on the other hand, there is still the security issue of the workers who, as they are exposed to only individual work contracts, can be dismissed with or without justification from day to day, only because of participating in a demonstration. As long as there is no labor union freedom and no collective negotiation, the civil servants workers do not dare to demonstrate,” said the association’s president José Pereira Coutinho, as quoted by Radio Macau. The lawmaker is going to demonstrate in the streets on May 1st on his own account.
