GIT opens tenders for light rail C385 construction works
The Transportation Infrastructure Office (GIT) of Macau opened tenders yesterday for the construction works of phase-one (Macau-Taipa Line) depot superstructure for the Light Rapid Transit System (LRT), which is located in the eastern part of the Cotai Strip, south of Macau International Airport and west of Avenida do Aeroporto. The maximun construction period for the depot superstructure is 1015 days.
Senior Technician of GIT Mio Chan Ip indicated that 16 companies have submitted tenders and the construction will start during the last six months of this year. In addition, Mio also said that the GIT has aimed to “offer more opportunities for local companies.”
“Even some of the companies from mainland included here have partnered with the local companies,” he added. Although first proposed in 2003 by the Macau SAR Government, the construction of LRT has not officially started until February of 2012. While it is targeted to be operating by 2015, the bulk of constructions has yet to start.
