Public hospital Conde S. Januário has received seven cases of hypothermia between last Thursday and Sunday and the Health Services Bureau (SSM) has asked the population to be ready from more chill weather in the next few days.
According to an SSM statement, the seven patients were all adults and their medical condition is stable, with no serious situation reported after they received treatment at Conde S. Januário.
The bureau asked residents, particularly elderly and people with chronic illnesses, to prevent against hypothermia by wearing suitable clothing. Temperatures are likely to drop significantly in the following few days, the SSM warned.
The weather forecast for the next week, published by the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, shows temperatures remaining between 13 and 19 degrees Celsius. The sky is also likely to remain cloudy.
