Cash handout likely in April
The government will start distributing this year’s cash handout from April, secretary for Economy and Finance Francis Tam Pak Yuen said yesterday.
According to the Portuguese-language channel of Rádio Macau, Tam said that the cheques will start to be distributed at the beginning of the second quarter.
This year, permanent and non-permanent residents will receive a cash handout of MOP 7,000 and MOP 4,200 respectively.
The cash handout scheme was first launched in 2008 so that people could share the benefits of Macau SAR’s economic development. That year, permanent residents were given MOP 5,000 and non-permanent residents MOP 3,000.
