The Catholic Pastoral Centre is organising the celebration of the 98th Migrant and Refugee World Day, on Sunday.
At 10.30 am the St. Augustine Church will hold a mass that will be followed by a fellowship lunch and cultural presentations at the St. Joseph School auditorium, near Saint Lawrence Church.
“In our responsibilities to the world, we are called to be co-creators of the new humanity and makers of the peace, transforming the conflicts and tensions and defeating the racism and discrimination that continue to disfigure the face of humanity,” organiser Jojo Ancheril said in a statement
“World Migrant Day celebration is a way to express our common aspirations to eliminate the gaps brought about by biases and prejudices, and open up the lines of communication leading us to a communion of persons and of communities,” the catholic priest explained.
“This year’s celebration of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees highlights the many possibilities that migrants can contribute in the process of renewing human societies - a process of world making,” he added.
In last year’s Migrant and Refugee World Day, about 1,000 people gathered for the celebrations, which included 24 cultural presentations.
