Guidelines in August for mainland tours
Guidelines for travel agencies in charge of tour groups from mainland China will come into effect next month.
The National Tourism Administration of China and the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) constructed the document in a meeting held in Beijing on Wednesday.
The guidelines “clearly define the responsibilities and duties of the organising travel agencies in mainland China and the welcoming agencies in Macau,” said an MGTO statement.
“If successfully implemented, it will have a very positive effect on the healthy development of mainland China tourism into Macau,” it adds.
Several disputes between Chinese tour groups and local agencies have been recorded this year. The most serious took place in February when a group of mainland tourists were charged with assault of two local tour guides.
