Policy Address to meet people’s demands: Chui
Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On pledged yesterday that the SAR Government will collect public opinions through a variety of channels with an “open and patient” attitude, during the formulation of the 2011 policy blueprint.
He made the remarks when talking to reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 6th China Jilin - Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo, in Changchun city.
When asked about how the Government would solve the problem of “uneven distribution of benefits” during the development in society, the Chief Executive said that apart from the “past problems caused by our history”, new problems have arisen at the same time.
Hence, he said that the Government will “patiently listen to the public opinions through different ways and channels”, when drawing up the Policy Address for 2011.
He also stressed that the blueprint will give priority to the overall interests of Macau and strive to “satisfy residents’ demands in order to achieve social harmony and stability”.
On the other hand, Fernando Chui Sai On told reporters that Macau’s economy has continued to recover based on the figures from the third quarter of 2009 and the first quarter of this year.
Yet, he reiterated that the Government will keep a close eye on the international financial situation, in a bid to ensure steadiness in the local economic environment.
The “Dynamic Macau Promotional Week” has been held in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Zhengzhou. The experience made the SAR Government believe that the event is advantageous for Macau’s small and medium enterprises (SME) in promoting Macau brands and products.
Therefore, the Chief Executive said that the activity will be added in the 2011 Policy Address as “full support for the SME industry”.
The move will not only provide a platform for SMEs to look for business opportunities, but also promote Macau brands and products in a “more active approach,” according to Chui Sai On.
After attending the unveiling ceremony of the investment and trade expo, the Chief Executive along with Secretary for Economy and Finance Francis Tam Pak Yuen officiated the opening of the “Dynamic Macau Promotional Week and Macau Products Pavilion”.
The Macau delegation returned to Macau yesterday afternoon.
