Man arrested with drugs in shoe
A 24-year-old man was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) at the Border Gate immigration building on Saturday night allegedly carrying illicit drugs inside one of his shoes.
A PSP statement released yesterday reported that underneath the insole of the suspect’s right shoe, around 5.39 grams of suspected ketamine, 0.82 grams of cocaine and 0.58 grams of nimetazepam (or commonly known as ‘Happy 5’) were discovered.
The suspect, surnamed Ng, is a Hong Kong permanent resident.
The PSP said that at 11.55pm on Saturday the drug detection dogs reacted to a man in an “unusual way” at the immigration building when assisting the Customs in the operation. After the man showed a panicked reaction he was interrogated by the Customs where the suspected illicit drugs were found.
The seized drugs are currently under laboratory testing by the Judiciary Police.
