TCM appeal delays bus open auction
Bus operator TCM’s appeal, filed with the Court of Second Instance (TSI) challenging the decision to uphold the Government’s refusal to consider the company’s late bid on public transport operations, has delayed the announcement of the auction results.
The announcement was originally scheduled for the end of this month, but due to the appeal there is no confirmed date the Transport Bureau (DSAT) told the Macau Daily Times.
However, the process has again been put in motion after the TSI rejected the first TCM appeal, last week.
The bureau accepted two bids in the auction from existing bus operator Transmac and also from Reolian, a new joint venture of French-based Veolia Transportation and Macau’s H. Nolasco & Cia., Lda.
Transmac and TCM’s contracts expire in October this year. The new service contracts will be valid for seven years.
TCM was disqualified from the public auction in November 2009 but the company has filed a contentious appeal with the court.
