Offbeat: Chicago museum toilet is number one

An ultra-clean Chicago museum toilet with a calming night sky decor was named America’s finest place to answer the call of nature Thursday.
The Chicago Field Museum’s two family friendly restrooms were winners of the annual best public toilet contest run by workplace supplies company Cintas.
Patrons enjoy “artwork of a beautiful night sky, a calming image that also absorbs sound,” the winning citation said, also referring to mini-toilets for children and rigorous hygiene.
Runners up included an extravagant and colorful affair at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel and a sleek number in Arizona’s Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, where the lighting constantly shifts color.
Taking fourth place was the Don’s John, a luxury restroom trailer commissioned for President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration – although it is not confirmed that the president inaugurated the Don’s John himself.
