Corporate News: Venetian hands scholarships and donations to NGOs
In celebration of the 3rd anniversary of The Venetian Macau on Saturday August 28, Sands China Ltd. hosted “The Venetian Macau ‘Together Macau’ Community Talent Show, Scholarship & Fellowship and Charity Donation Cheque Presentation” at Sands Theater, last Friday.
Five higher education institutions and five community organisations that are instrumental in fostering responsible gaming were invited to attend a cheque presentation ceremony. They were followed by the winner and four finalists of the Macau citywide talent contest at ‘The Venetian’s Talent Spotlight’ Talent Quest” who brightened up the stage with their superb performance.
In the academic year of 2009/2010, a total amount of MOP 590,000 was given to the scholarship and fellowship scheme of these five institutions. Sands China has been supporting these institutions since 2006 and has, to date, made a contribution totalling MOP 2,480,000 benefitting nearly 400 students.
“As part of Macau, Sands China Ltd take its role in society very seriously — since 2004 we have extended our support to over 120 community initiatives, with beneficiaries spanning education, medical support and social assistance,” president and chief operating officer of Sands China, Edward Tracy, said.
