Workers clean up debris from the bedroom of a two-storey residence hit by a meteor, in Delima street, eastern Jakarta yesterday.
Following investigations by the Indonesian National Aeronautics and Space Agency and police forensic teams, it was concluded yesterday, that the incident thought to be a bomb attack was a meteorological accident and the explosion was caused by a meteor.
The owner Soedarmojo and his wife were luckily away when the meteor’s impact heavily damaged the house and two adjoining residences at 4.30 in the afternoon (0930 GMT) last Thursday.
Authorities said they are still searching for meteorite pieces in the rubble and advised the community to surrender any meteorite pieces they find.
